Croatian and Serbian Post War Nationalism: An Individual Phenomenon or La Folie Simultanée
Europe in twentieth century is deeply marked with nationalism. Recent events in unstable region of Balkan Peninsula were also marked with nationalism, especially the conflict between two major nations of ex Yugoslavia: Serbs and Croats. War in Croatia showed, with no doubt, that the nationalism is still alive and strong mover of human thoughts and activities. Today, when the war is over and these two countries live in relative stabillity, the goal of this research is to establish actual nature feeling of national belonging among Croats and Serbs. Is the genesis of nationalism social-political, historical, cultural, economic, how much is specific for Coats and how much for Serbs and how powerful it is? During the 2003., we formed the questionnaire of nationalistc statements. It consists of 57 items with possibility of answers on Likert scale (from 1 to 5). During 2004. this questionnaire was given to the group of 100 war veterans (50 Croats in Rijeka and Zagreb and 50 Serbians who live in Belgrade and near by.)
