Application of the milling machine vibration signal for cutter condition monitoring
The results of a wide scale vibration measurements conducted on a milling machine (E. Hnatko et al. CIM 99 ; E. Hnatko et al. CIM 2000) have established a clear influence of certain parameters on the behaviour of the vibration signal. The measurements were conducted by the Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Slavonski Brod. This paper presents the results of researching the influence of the working milling machine parameters on the vibration and the vibration signal usage as a diagnostic parameter for cutter condition monitoring. In order to keep the results comparable to the previous ones some of the working parameters were kept the same, eg. tool geometry, cutting speed, material and geometry of the workpiece. An important part of the research was tool wear during the work of the milling machine.
