INFLUENCE OF ASH FROM BIOMASS COMBUSTION ON CEMENT HYDRATION

Fly ash from biomass combustion contains a relatively large part of free calcium oxide, larnite and brownmillerite, minerals found in portland cement. Hydration and properties of cement binders prepared with fly ash addition had been investigated by X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis and microcalorimetry. The results indicate to the possibility of using the ash biomass in new ecological cement binders, which contributes to a lower use of natural raw materials and lower impact on the environment.
