Paradigm Framework for Responsible Management Education of 21 Century Business Leaders
In an increasingly intensive global debate on management education which would best meet the demands of the 21st century business environment, professional educators have reached a consensus that incorporating sustainability and corporate social responsibility into responsible management education would be a must. Both business leaders and business educators are very well aware of the strategic importance of embedding sustainability in business thus adding value to the business and the society. Many business schools in the world use various teaching methods and implement innovative strategies to place sustainability at the heart of management education. Drawing on some of these initiatives and management teaching experience, this paper outlines a paradigm framework consisting of Principles for Responsible Management Education – PRME (purpose, values, method, research, partnership, and dialogue), the stakeholder theory and the shared value concept. This framework elaborates conceptual foundation for various initiatives of embedding sustainability in responsible management education and empirical research into effectiveness of responsible management education.
