Thermoelastic Martensitic Transformation in Cu-Al- Mn alloy
Cu-Al-Mn shape memory alloys are commercially attractive for application of superelasticity, shape memory effect and high damping properties [1, 2]. Cu-Al-Mn alloys with Al content less than 18 at. % show an excellent ductility because of low degree of order of -phase [3, 4]. Thermoelastic martensite transformation is first order solid-solid transformation and it is explained by collective atom motion [5]. Cu- Al- Mn alloys were prepared and heat-treated at different temperatures. Temperatures of martensite transformations were followed by simultaneous thermal analyzer STA. Martensite phase and type of martensite was determined by SEM and XRD measurements. Dynamic-mechanical analysis was used to determine damping properties of alloy. Results show completely formed martensite in material, low transition temperature and high damping properties of material.
