Analysis of the biogas n‐heptane HCCI operation

This study presents the experimental and numerical analysis of the homogeneous compression ignition (HCCI) engine fueled with biogas and n-heptane. In the experimental part of the study the influence of the amount of premixed n-heptane in the intake charge on engine’s operation, performance and combustion phasing control was analyzed. The numerical part of the study focused on maximizing the engine’s performance. In the numerical part of the study, a full engine model created in the AVL Boost and validated against the experimental data was used.
