Successfulness in the training of non-swimmers strongly depends on the coach

Swimming abilities of the children depends on program of certain training of non-swimmers (hereinafter swimming school), as well on swimming coach’s knowledge and personality. The issue of this article is to gain the insight into specific aspects of differences between swimming coaches in their results in the school of swimming.The main goals of this research are: to determine the differences among final results in the school of swimming according to the coach (swimming abilities) (1) ; to determine the differences in the performances between the phases of the school of swimming according to the coach (2). The sample consisted of 174 non-swimmers, aged between 6 and 7. All of them were participants of the first class from seven elementary schools in Varaždin, Croatia.the differences among final results in the school of swimming according to the coach (term of passing the exam) were not statistically significant, while the differences among final results in the school of swimming according to the coach (passing the exam or not) were statistically significant. Third coach has relatively the worst success, while first and second coach together, have the best success. Differences in overall progress from the initial to the final phase of the school of swimming according to the coach were statistically significant: relatively the biggest advancement had non-swimmers with the sixth coach, while the least have those with coach’s change. There were statistically significant differences between the phases of the school of swimming according to the coach.
