Transient aerodynamic loads on vehicles and wind energy structures

While effects of the atmospheric boundary layer on engineering infrastructure are known rather well, downslope windstorms create considerable difficulties for vehicles, structures and humans. This presentation encompasses wind-tunnel results on cross-wind gusting of vehicles, aerodynamic design of roadway wind barriers, wake characteristics of wind turbines in complex terrain.
