Workers 55Plus in Croatia and Late Work Employment
* According to the recent statistical data the employment rate of older workers (55-64) is particularly low, which is a result of economic recession as well as still favourable retirement policy in terms of possibilities of earlier retirement, and rather widespread use of disability pensions. * Official data for Croatia, August 2015: employed persons: 1 360 845 or 15, 9% (registered unemployment) ; active population: 1 617 593 ; unemployed persons: 256 748 ; among unemployed: cca 80.000 older workers (50+) * The problem of “55plus workers’ employment policy” in Croatia: it is still not formulated as a separate and distinctive government policy. * Also, many empirical and research driven information are missing, especially whit regard to its deeper scientific /rational foundation. * Main social message from demographic and economic trends: we have to many old people, and to few older workers! What to do? And why?
