Optimization of chromatographic analysis. Chemometric approach.
The complexity of optimization procedures usually contributed to their accuracy in description of real ion chromatography (IC) separation but increases the calculation time. However, a compromise between simplicity and accuracy is perhaps the best solution for most chromatography users. Therefore, it is worthwhile to search for an integrated approach for prediction and optimization in IC with a good balance between the mentioned attributes. In this paper, new software for prediction and optimization in ion chromatography ; OptIC, was presented. The core of OptIC is based on retention models, peak shape model and optimization strategy searching routine. It allows also prediction of other relevant parameters, like resolution and peak asymmetry. The searching routine incorporates in-house developed criteria for searching domain minimization ; consequently the calculation time is significantly reduced. Everyday IC users might find OptIC a suitable tool for finding optimal IC elution conditions in a given system.
