Occurence and intensity of more important fungal diseases on soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) cultivars

The main objective of this study was to determinate the occurence and intensity of attack by the more important fungal diseases in soybean, influence of planting date on disease intensity and soybean grain yield.Four-year investigation (1998-2001)was undertaken on 10 soybean cultivars and set in two planting date(optimal and late) on selection field of The Agricultural Institute Osijek as RCBD with 4 replicates. During the investigation following more important fungal diseases were established:downy mildew (Peronospora manshurica), pod and stem blight (Diaporthe phaseolorum var. sojae), stem canker (Diaporthe phaseolorum var. caulivora) and white mold(Sclerotinia sclerotiorum). On year 2000, a soybean disease was recorded in very low incidence due to drought vegetation period. The results of the investigation have shown differences in the intensity of disease attack caused by genetic diversity as well as different agroecological conditions during the investigation. Cultivars Podravka 95 and Nada were showed lower incidence of diseases among other tested cultivars. Due to planting date, downy mildew and pod and stem blight were showed significantly higher incidence in optimal planting date while higher incidence of stem canker was recorded in late planting date but without significant differences.
