The post-colonial "eye" and post-socialist space: arriving at my unbelonging
This essay examines theoretical arguments surrounding the use of post-colonial theories as a way to articulate key concerns of post-socialism. The main areas of exploration are ambiguous situatedness through 'post' signifiers, (in)visibility of socialism after a historical turn of 1989-1990, and the possibility of post- socialist agency within neo-colonial power-matrix asymmetry. By taking a feminist perspective and autobiographical trajectory in Yugoslav/Croatian framework as a foundation for analysis, the author considers problematic nexuses at the intersection of spatial representation, geopolitics of knowledge and post-colonial critical interventions.
