Hydrogen-induced cracking and sulfide stress cracking of steels in the oil industry
This paper views hydrogen degradation of steels, as well as current solutions to hydrogen problems in steels, and the selection of material including service conditions. The main chemical-physical and metallurgical factors which effect on hydrogen- induced cracking and sulfide stress cracking of steels are briefly reviewed. Also, for a given solution pH, H2S, concentration and total pressure are drawn diagrams for low-alloy steels where sulfide stress cracking will/or will not occur.
