It is obvious that Europe is in an irreversible process of transformation into a multicultural society. This implies the strengthening of diverse cultures and establishing of new social relations based on the principles of interculturalism. Education is the outcome of prevailing value orientations in the society and a basis for creating the new ones. School plays an important role in the formation of individuals and in order to create a society based on the principles of interculturalism, it is necessary to integrate intercultural education in educational institutions and to establish a new paradigm of education as a real mechanism for change, as opposed to the present situation, where the laws established for this purporse, are not implemented. It is because of ignorance and lack of understanding or the tendency of the society to keep important decisions only at the level of the principle, and not of practice. In the shadow of great pamphlets about respecting diversities, that old xenophobia is still hidden. Understanding of diversity is threatened from all sides, there is noise in the communication channels, caused by ego-social condition of society, which interferes with the accurate transmission of informations and accurate definitions of concepts being handled. In the process of intercultural education, the participation of an interculturally competent teacher, is a necessity . The problem of understanding is an imperative of future education, and it is necessary to become aware of own discriminatory behavior, which now is not recognized or is passed over in silence, at the individual and the social level. To establish a new paradigm and practice of education, intercultural education of teachers is unavoidable.
