New Zagreb Airport Passenger Terminal
In 2008 a first prize on an international competition for the design of the new airport terminal was awarded to the project by Branko Kincl, Velimir Neidhardt and Jure Radic. In 2012 a concessionary agreement was signed with French company Bouygues for the erection of terminal according to the winning design. This design comprises an integral multidimensional approach between the construction, form, urbanism, ecology and functionality. The main architectural identity of the terminal is represented by its fluid form roof steel truss construction merged with tubular passenger piers on each side. The concrete construction of the interior comprises three dilatations of mixed precast TT beam floor slabs, RC beams and monolithic floor slabs. Horizontal actions are taken my 4 concrete cores and shear walls. With the gross building area of 65.800 m2 and the capacity of 5 million passengers per year, Zagreb airport is to become a major air traffic regional centre.
