The Financial Challenges of Clinical Legal Education in Legal Aid Reform. Example from Zagreb Law Clinic
Authors lay out the debate over the composition and direction of legal education in an era of legal aid reform and limited financial resources. Croatia recently adopted new Legal Aid Law that presents an opportunity for law students to become more actively involved in delivering primarily legal assistance to broad scope of citizens with an aim to help judicial system to overcome overloading with meritless cases. If faculties are not sufficiently financially resourced they can hardly equip students with the needed skills to practise law. Finally, the authors argues who should play a guiding role in developing a clinical legal education in law schools that are focused on educating students as social justice lawyers.
