Comparison of fracture behaviour of standard SENB and nonstandard PRNB specimens

It is well known that the pipes or tubes due to its geometry are not suitable for making the standard specimens for fracture toughness testing (e. g. Single Edge Notched Bend specimen (SENB) or Compact Tension specimen (CT)). This is especially expressed in thin walled pipes or tubes. So the new type of specimen is proposed and it is called Pipe ring notched bend specimen (PRNB), which is ideal for pipes or tubes due to geometry of the specimen which is the ring. The authors [1], [2], [3], [4] have made a lot of researches on this type of specimen but cut out from the plate, not from the real pipe where are present some imperfections in the geometry, material, etc.. Within this paper, PRNB specimen is cut out from the real pipe which is used in the boilers and made from material 16Mo3. From the same pipe, two SENB specimens are made too in order to make comparison in fracture behavior of SENB and PRNB specimens.
