Experimental testing of fired clay brick for mathematical formulation of constitutive model
This paper presents a novel experimental methodology, devised in order to define necessary material parameters for the mathematical formulation of a constitutive model of fired clay brick. Obtained parameters will be incorporated into a numerical structural model. Mechanical tests were conducted on series of fired clay brick specimens using compression testing machines and a novel apparatus for tensile testing. Statistically analyzed experimental data yielded modulus of elasticity, Poisson’s coefficient, extreme tensile and compression stress/strain relationships to be used in the proposed constitutive modified MCR model.
