THE ROLE OF CALIBRATION IN THE TEXTILE TESTING PROCESS
The quality of the product in the textile industry largely depends upon the control of physical quantities such as length, force, humidity, temperature and others. It is therefore important to supervise the production process through the calibration of the instruments. Calibration is an integral part in the textile testing process. Calibration has to be carried out on the basis of results obtained from calibration check with prescribed procedures and methods to get accurate results. Calibration should be carried out by calibration laboratories which have proven their competence with a certificate according to HRN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2000 (previously 45001) because they ensure the traceability of physical quantities. This paper deals with various calibration methods for the needs of the textile industry. It also provides an overview of certified calibration laboratories in Croatia.
