Modelling heterogenity of household energy consumption and its influence on development of low-emission energy strategy
This paper presents how the disaggregation of energy consumption of the household sector is incorporated in a model to promote a low-carbon energy system development. The process of identifying and quantifying influence of household income on energy policy evaluation in the context of long-term energy consumption in residential sector and the impact of household income on choice of technology for heating, electronic devices, or implementation of energy efficiency measures is described. The paper will be the first attempt to disaggregate consumption in household sector to the social and economic indicators using statistical methods on the case study for Croatia. The established relations and models of consumer groups are integrated into the model for evaluation of the energy system development with the aim of establishing a minimum cost of energy savings for the institution providing the funds. This model is the first step in the development of an integrated model of optimal allocation of financial resources (subsidies, grants, etc.) with a goal of developing low-carbon energy system.
