Clinical relevance of serum amyloid A and C- reactive protein monitoring in urinary tract infections
Most forms of microbial infections are associated with high levels of acute phase proteins. We measured two of them SAA and CRP during 10 to 14 consecutive days in hospitalized patients suffering from sever pyelonephritis. The result of the statistical evaluation of the significance between the means for both acute phase proteins for each day between the two presented groups showed p<0, 01 from the third day since the admission. This method provides clinicians with a valuable means for a check-up the patients condition abd therapy control.
