International Sources of Financing Public Private Partnerships
Public private partnerships (PPPs) are arrangements between government and private sector entities for the purpose of providing public infrastructure, community facilities and related services. Such partnerships are characterized by the sharing of investment, risk, responsibility and reward between the partners. The reasons for establishing such partnerships vary but generally involve the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of public infrastructure and services. In the second part of this article many possible sources of finance are considered for public private partnership projects over and above simple commercial bank debt which is now available from a considerable number of international banks and other international financial institutions in financing public private partnership.
