Transformational leadership in Croatia
The purpose of the study was to examine whether the Croatian version of MLQ 5X was applicable on Croatian managers. The aim was also to identify a dominant leadership style among Croatian managers and to compare the results with those obtained in American and European studies. The sample was 108 middle and line bank managers, 26-35 years old, with 2-6 years of work experience, employed in Zagreb bank. The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ 5X) by Bernard M. Bass was used to measure a dominant leadership style. The results showed that Croatian version of MLQ 5X can be used as an acceptable and reliable measure of leadership style. Croatian managers were more similar to Scotland managers (4 non-significant t-values) than to American managers (2 non-significant t-values). Croatian managers used much more transformational leadership style then two others (transactional and laissez-faire leadership style).
