Evidence on Major Gene Control of Cortical Index in Pedigree Data from Middle Dalmatia, Croatia
The results of complex segregation analysis of cortical index pedigree data from Middle Dalmatian islands' population were presented and discussed in wider context of issues connected with genetic investigations of complex diseases. Specifically the question if the results of complex segregation analysis could serve as plausible identifier of target phenotype and target population for further molecular-genetic analyses. Definition of osteoporosis as well as it&#8217 ; s epidemiological data shows how genetic investigations of complex diseases are faced with questions starting from defining the borders between disease and "normal" ageing to the problems connected with choice of best phenotype and best target population. The results of current genetic - linkage and association - studies using diverse phenotypes in order to investigate genetics of osteoporosis were discussed.
