Radon risk mapping in Osijek
Using the town map with square fields of 1x1 km^2, the Osijek town was divided into 24 fields, and about ten houses were chosen at random from every field by which the radon concentration was measured. The indoor radon map pointed out a region of higher radon concentrations (central part of the town), that was ascribed to the geological soil structure. The arithmetic mean value of all the measurements of indoor radon concentration was 75.8 Bq m^-3 and standard deviation 29.1 Bq m^-3. The radon concentrations in soil had the arithmetic mean of 26 kBq/m^3 with the standard deviation of 6.3 kBq/m^3. The statistical investigation showed a good association of the radon concentrations in homes and soil, with the significant coefficient of correlation of 0.62. Considering the meteorological parameters, continuous monitoring of the soil gas radon has shown that the most dependence of the radon concentration was on the barometric pressure.
