Education and cultural identity
Development of an individual, cultural and ethnic identity implicitly implies the formation of an idea of self, but also of others, development of pride in one's own culture but also respect of others. Child's first experience from an educational institution should be positive - accepting and supportive. That means that every child, regardless his/her cultural, ethnic, social heritage is subjected to appropriate and demanding curriculum, high quality instruction suitable for child's learning style, high expectations about child's achievements and child is actively involved in the teaching process. Kindergarten revitalisation of traditional plays, toys and customs is one of the possible ways to cherish cultural identity and to value diversity. This includes also the education of future kindergarten teachers - their cultural, communicational and professional competence together with their understanding, views, personal and interpersonal skills are built and developed.
