“He who works is not afraid of being fired” - Corpus analysis of Croatian proverbs and anti-proverbs in primary schools
Proverbs, as part of the national and international lore, have become the subject of linguistic and international researches. The most important questions that arise at this point in Croatia concern the paremiological minimum and the familiarity of proverbs. Due to the fact that establishing the Croatian paremiological minimum has been started in course of a private project conducted in the Eastern part of Croatia, this paper aims at the next step, determining how much of this lore and in what form is being passed on to future generations, children and future primary schools. The present paper gives the results of a qualitative and quantitative corpus analysis and tries to determine to which extent are paremia present in the teaching of Croatian as a native language in primary schools.
