Population dynamics of parasites of a cage-reared fish from one facility in Adriatic Sea
Although the Adriatic Sea is a narrow and straight bay of Mediterranean and its northest point, because of relevant differences in abiotic factors, it has its own parasitofaunal specificities. One of the referent and key studies of Adriatic parasitofauna was made by Radujković (1982), but it does not comprise cage-reared fish and it's limited to most southern part of Adriatic. The parasitic community of cage-reared fish in studied facility is impoverished one, with seasonal oscillations in diversity and abundance. From the sea bass' sample 6 parasite species were collected: Diplectanum aequans, Sphaerospora dicentrarchii, Amyloodinium ocellatum, Cryptocarion irritans, Ceratomyxa labracis, Cerathotoa oestroides and from sea bream' sample parasite 7 species: Polysporoplasma sp, Amyloodinium ocellatum, Cryptocarion irritans, Ceratomyxa diplodae, Cerathoa oestroides, Lamellodiscus elegans, Sparicotyle chrysophrii. Even with high prevalence of certain parasite' species, low values of abundance were calculated. The four diversity indecis, however showed high values, pointing the high parasite' species richness.
