Early Films of Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is a director who is widely acclaimed, but at the same time openly disapproved. The important question whether his films of the 1990s, especially Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, are another step in filmmaking evolution, or just a series of pale imitations, is quite difficult to answer. While his first two films are loaded with extreme graphic violence that is presented as a casual occurrence, carry achronological narratives and are infused with pop culture references, Jackie Brown shows the departure from his excessive style and is, for that standard, more reasonable and moderate. Anti-heroes in black suits, the reverse trunk shot, close-ups of female feet, the Mexican standoff and other signature Tarantino scenes are to be seen in most of his work. His work is distinctive due to his style, and what marked his first three films is the presence of gory violence, criminals struggling with moral choices and the use of an abundance of pop culture references. Remaining a successful filmmaker to this day, he has been applauded by critics and garnered great commercial success. At this point, it can be concluded that Quentin Tarantino is the man behind the films that marked the latest turn of the century.
