The effect of air pollution on the outcome of pregnancies
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the possible association between air pollution levels and the outcome of pregnancy in the city of Rijeka, Croatia. The study was conducted as a retrospective cohort study using data from the clinic's birth records. Maternal residence at the time of delivery was taken as an exposure variable, with city area forming the high exposure zone and the rest of the region being the reference area. The results suggest possible weak association of air pollution and preterm deliveries, while no positive association was found regarding IUGR.
