The instruments measuring emotional intelligence and competence constructed and adapted in Croatian context
Self-report measure and an ability conception of emotional intelligence provide alternative theoretical frameworks for operationalization of emotional intelligence construct. Ability measures have the advantage of representing an individual's maximal performance. In this framework several instruments were constructed: Vocabulary of Emotion Test (VET), Analyzing Emotions Test, Emotional intelligence Test (EIT), and Test of Understanding Emotions (TUnE). On the other side, self-report measures have reflected a person's self-concept or typical performance. The most frequently used instrument is Emotional Skills and Competence Questionnaire (ESCQ) which is translated and adapted in various cultural contexts from four continents. All the instruments have shown appropriate reliabilities and various kind of validities. The most interesting results will be presented for each tests, together with cross cultural comparison stressing the fact that more similarities than differences were found in between countries and cultures.
