Reliability of Fire Blight prediction systems Maryblyt and BIS on apple
Fire blight, caused by the bacteria Erwinia amylovora, occurred on apples and pears in the eastern parts of Croatia in 1995 (Cvjetković et al. 1996). Following its appearance all quarantine measures were undertaken but the disease was not eradicated (Cvjetković et al. 1999). Since then it has spread but it has not yet been observed neither in western parts of the country nor in the coastal region. Correct decision-making in the application of chemical control has a major impact in integrated control of plant diseases. Before a disease forecasting model is officially accepted for a region it should be tested there for a few years. In order to achieve correct decision-making monitoring of the weather conditions and phenophases of the plants were performed and two forecasting models were tested.
