Education and Employment Policies in the Context of European Integration: an Istria Case Study
The paper presents Istrian experiences in harmonizing educational and employment policies through an overview of the preparation of a new graduate study on Culture and Tourism. It was noted that the wider global context and Croatia's accession to the European Union imposed the need for strategic alignment of education and employment policies to create educational programs that would prepare young people for the key competences required by work in the international environment. The case study included the results of the research involving the students of the new Interdisciplinary Study of Culture and Tourism of Pula University, university teachers, potential employers and experts. The aim of the research was to identify key competences for future professionals working in the field of culture and tourism. The research has shown that synergistic action of all stakeholders can create educational and employment policies that will enable vocational training to match the needs of the labor market and the optimal level of employment in the region.
