The effect of steel boriding layers on exposure to H2S

This paper presents part of research carried out within framework of the project of Ministry of Science and Technology of Republic of Croatia. (Belić, Krumes & et. al., 1990). Exploitation of oil and gas from deep acid wells with hydrogen sulphide results in very intensive abrasion and corrosion of steel materials. Boriding steels can primarily be used for the purpose of reducing mechanical (abrasive and erosive) effect of the fluid. However the present paper also considers their corrosion protection role by using hydrogen induced cracking (HIC) method in standard agressive NACE-TM-01-77 solution.
