Effects of Erosion and Corrosion Wear on construction Material in agresive environment
The paper describes results of study of effects of erosive environment on durability and resistance of construction materials under exploitation in petrochemical industry. Research has taken into account erosion with quarts sand particles suspended in fluids transported in plants for cracking and clearing of oil condensate from gaseous part of natural gas in gas drilling rigs. Laboratory investigations were carried out with alloyed and low alloyed carbon steels in waterless oil condensate, destilled (purified) water with 5% NaCl ( with the constant pH value = 3, 5) with addition of quarts sand. Materials were examined in normalized and heat treated state ( quenched and tempered). Series of investigations lasting for 72 hours with test measurements after 24 and 48 hours of exposure to erosive environment were carried out. Analytic methods of material analysis, gravimetry methods , metalographic analysis and mechanical testing prior and after exposure to erosion were conducted. Research indicated the increased wear of construction material under specified conditions. The analysis established that normalized steels display greater resistance in erosive environment in comparison with heat treated steels.
