Stochastic Dosimetry Applied to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Analysis
The paper proposes one possible approach to tackle the problem of quantification of uncertainties in computational bioelectromagnetics by using the stochastic dosimetry, combining deterministic electromagnetic techniques with certain stochastic techniques. The used non-intrusive stochastic collocation(SC) method provides the detailed study pertaining to the influence of the variability in the morphology and the tissue properties of the brain to the related output of interest such as induced fields and current densities (in the brain). Stochastic-deterministic modeling could thus enable a satisfactory theoretical basis for estimating the effects of the corresponding uncertainties to the output of interest. Moreover, the sensitivity analysis of various parameters in the simplified model of the human brain could aid in better formulation of a more realistic and computationally much more demanding models at latter steps.
