Planning the sustainable development of pedestrian and bicycle traffic in the City of Sisak
The development of pedestrian surfaces in urban areas and the future development of cycling network demands for more efficient, safer, and more attractive infrastructure for better mobility and higher participation of pedestrians and cyclists. Such infrastructure would have to include improved communications by providing the necessary space for non-motorized transport, enabling the citizens to have their opinion about it and spend their leisure time, as well as reviving the commerce in urban city area and making the city centre more liveable. The case study will present the current state of the City of Sisak as a part of the sustainable urban mobility plan. The study will also analyse the existing state of infrastructure for non-motorized traffic. Furthermore, it will introduce the concept of developing pedestrian zone in the city centre as well as the development of the cycling network for the period until 2030.
