Change-in-ratio of grain-size fractions along the Zmajevac loess profile, northeastern Croatia

A detailed high-resolution grain-size study was performed of the Zmajevac loess section from Baranja (northeastern Croatia), to reconstruct climate changes during the Pleistocene. The aim of this research was to define the functions of change-in-ratio of fractions at the transition from one OIS stage to another, i.e. from colder, glacial periods, to warmer, interglacial/interstadial periods. In addition to this, the goal was to define the function of change-in-ratio of fractions between the horizons relating to the interglacials and glacials, respectively. Ultimately, we wanted to numerically and graphically present models which describe these changes-in-ratio of fractions. The purpose of this study was to contribute to the understanding of changes in grain-size fraction relations, which depend onthe various factors governed by different climatic conditions.
