COMPARISION BETWEEN NUMERICAL MODELLING METHODS TO ESTIMATE MECHANICAL VENTILATION SMOKE EXTRACTION EFFICIENCY IN UNDERGROUND CAR PARKS
Numerical modelling is a useful approach to estimate mechanical ventilation smoke extraction efficiency in underground car parks. However, results strongly depend on the boundary conditions and the selected modelling method. Therefore, two numerical modelling methods have been compared in this paper. The first method considers fire growth, heat release rate, smoke movement and stratification in an underground car park. The second method is based on the assumption that whole underground car park volume is filled with smoke. The paper's main objective was to present advantages and disadvantages of each method and explain differences in the obtained results.
