„Who really wins?“ - Scientific evaluation, implementation and dissemination challenges of Croatian youth gambling prevention program
Gambling market in Croatia significantly changed over the past 15 years, influencing accessibility and availability of all types of gambling venues and activities. Consequently, it influenced the prevalence of youth gambling as well as the prevalence of psychosocial problems related to gambling among children and youth. The need for developing different types of interventions is confirmed both by scientific research and clinical experience. Croatian team of experts from the University of Zagreb created, piloted and evaluated effectiveness of an universal Youth Gambling Prevention Program “Who really wins?. After 3 years, a final version of the Program was created, together with the implementation Manual. Process of dissemination started in 2016 with a three-day trainings for high-school professionals. Till present time, a total of 42 high-schools implemented the Program and have incorporated it in their curricula. This presentation will focus on the first effectiveness evaluation results, as well as different challenges in the process of creating, implementation and dissemination of the Program.
