MEMs, FET and PIN RF switching devices and circuits for reconfigurable antennas
The objective is to present a view of the future of antenna technology, making a review of the more characteristic applications of the communications, observation and vigilance systems. A general review of the state of the art of the antenna technology will be presented in the course, putting special accent on mention of innovative concepts and its possible applications. This review will include active array antennas, passive and active reflectarrays, the use of MEMS, EBG or left-handed materials on radiating systems, and the advantages of the diffraction applied to the design of flat reflectors. How do work radiating systems for beam control applications, self-oscillating radiators, mobile phones, base station or retrodirective antennas to the identification of targets like the highway toll system, anechoic antennas for radar invisibility, and new concepts on distribution networks working as an approach to the behaviour of the retina on the eyes. All this concepts and applications will be also explained in the course. The course is oriented to the students and experts on Physics and Telecommunications Universities, but as the course makes emphasis on applications, medium level of knowledge is sufficient to obtain a global view of the achievements and possibilities of this technology.
