RPA Quantization of Inhomogeneous Hartree-Fock Solutions
We have developed a technique to calculate linear excitations, for both charge and spin degrees of freedom, around inhomogeneous Hartree-Fock solutions. For example, in one dimension there are kink solutions and combined kink and antikink solutions, with and without a twist. The linear excitations consist of creation and annihilation of electron-hole pairs. Longitudinal spin excitations are mixed with charge excitations around the local defect. We have applied this technique to the Hubbard and Peierls-Hubbard models in one and two dimensions and obtained susceptibilities, correlation functions and correction to the ground state energy. Comparisons have been made with alternative approaches, including exact Bethe Ansatz results.
