Fictional Characters

This paper offers an account of fictional characters, arguing that the proper way to understand fictional characters is one that emphasizes the fact that fictional characters are literary creations.It is argued that their identity is composed of writer's activities, which depend on various other aspects such as a genre or a function that a character has within the literary work, and by reader's activities, i.e. her constructing the character on the basis of the textual evidence.
