Attitudes of Future Teachers about Education for Intercultural Society
Globalization and changes in society have a huge impact on the dynamics of social relationships at the educational institutions. The role that teachers play in intercultural education is multifold – they must be willing to promote the democratic intercultural habits among students, they should have knowledge and skills to work in different cultural environments, and they need to be aware of their own personal and professional beliefs to reduce their impact on the education of their students. It is assumed, therefore, that preparation of teachers should ensure these outcomes. In order to find students attitudes about intercultural education, the authors developed research instrument and research was conducted between 100 students of early childhood education at University of Zagreb. Results shows their positive attitudes to intercultural education and their concern about insufficient preparation according to intercultural education in early childhood. The results of the research can be used for implementing changes in the formal education of early childhood teachers.
