The equilibrium properties of zinc, copper and lead immobilization on natural zeolite - the adsorption model approach
The uptake of zinc, copper, and lead from aqueous solutions of different initial concentrations on natural zeolitic tuff has been studied. The amount of exchangeable cations Na, K, Ca, and Mg in filtrates after equilibration indicates a nonstoichiometry in ion exchange process, due to the detachment of the aluminosilicate structure in the presence of H^+ and OH^- ions. The proposed adsorption isotherm equations, derived from basic empirical equations, aim to approach the adsorption model that fits the experimental results best.
