Heart rate and lactate values in step aerobics at different heights of the step-bench

The aim of the research was to establish differences between the heart rate values and maximal blood lactate concentration assessed during the performance of a step aerobics programme at three different heights of the step-bench. The sample of subjects consisted of 30 female students of the Faculty of physical Education aged from 22 to 25 years, who were actively participating in aerobics. The results obtained in the study reveal that at each measurement the maximal heart rate value differed depending on the step-bench height. It can be concluded that the bench height increase may also influence the increase of intensity of the training process. This finding is crucial for the planning and programming of training both in top sports and in recreational activities. It makes the basis on which it is possible to suitably plan the distribution of the performers’ workload with regard to their actual condition or fitness and pursued aims.
