Einfulss der Kastration auf die Bildung von Riesenfasern in der Weissen Muskulatur von Huhnern
The influence of castration on appearance of giant fibers in capon's pectoral muscles has been investigated. Ten cocks of hybrid line Sasso were randomly chosen and divided in two groups: control and experimental. Cocks in the experimental group were castrated at the age of 30 days. Diameters of myofibers were measured in photomicrographs and data were statistically analyzed and graphically presented. The diameter of giant myofibers was significantly different (p < 0.05) compared to normal fibers within the experimental group. This was not observed in the control group.
