Ways of ensuring hole fabrication quality during drilling process of composite materials
Composite materials provide distinctive advantages in manufacture of advanced products because they have attractive features, such us high ratios of strength to weight and stiffness to weight. Their usage depends on possibilities for production of parts with specified quality. Drilling holes in composite materials is very difficult especially if higher hole fabrication quality is required. Errors that appear during fabrication differ from case to case. Quality and functionality of these elements often depends of hole fabrication quality. Considering the structure of composite materials, parameters Ra, Rz and Rmax are insufficient and unacceptable. Errors that appear during hole fabrication, require, due to their specific features, additional parameters for grading quality: fibre fuzzing (k) and fibre delamination parameter (l).
