Twin row technology maize sowing on family farm Vračić
This paper presents the results of maize seeding with two diff erent types of sowing machines: standard – PSK4 OLT and twin row – MaterMacc Twin Row-2 sowing machine. Research was carried out on fi eld of Family farm Vračić in Lužani, Brodsko- posavska county. Two maize hybrids were used: DKC 4555 and Chapalu RWA in standard seeding with row spacing of 70 cm and in twin row seeding with row spacing of 22 cm (between plant lines) and 48 cm (between plant rows). The standard seeding for DKC 4555 hybrid was performed on a predetermined set of 64253 plants ha-1. Es mated set a er emergence was 60705 plants ha-1. Yield of this hybrid with standard seeding was 9126, 66 kg ha-1 with st.dev. of 645, 763 and c.v. of 7, 08%. Yield with twin row technology was 10464, 42 kg ha-1 or 12, 78% more than with standard seeding. Predetermined set for this case was 65679 plants ha-1 with 61845 plants ha-1 es mated a er emergence. The standard seeding for Chapalu RWA hybrid was performed on a predetermined set of 64253 plants ha-1. Es mated set a er emergence was 57865 plants ha-1. Yield of this hybrid with standard seeding was 12174 kg ha-1 with st.dev. of 830, 167 and c.v. of 6, 81%. Yield with twin row technology was 13344 kg ha- 1 or 8, 76% higher than with standard seeding.
