Free Radicals and BPC-157 Interaction. The ESR Study
We tested the hypothesis that direct interaction of BPC-157 with free radicals is the key of peptide protective effects. We studied the interaction of nitroxide radical Tempol and BPC-157 in solutions of different molecular ratios. Tempol was chosen for the model of free radical because its well defined ESR spectra and its stability in water solutions. Their interaction was tested by following the time dependent diminution of intensity of Tempol spectra in solutions with different concentrations of peptide and free radicals. The obtained results indicated a mild free radical reduction upon time, with reduction rate not dependent on peptide concentration. The conclusion was that the direct interaction is probably not the primary molecular mechanism of BPC-157 protective effect.
